Religious Education

Curriculum vision

The content of the RE curriculum is directed by the Bishops Conference of England and Wales. The RE curriculum aims to provide students with a holistic education enabling them to develop as religiously literate individuals, learners, and citizens. The RE department, guided by Catholic Social teaching and mindful of the dignity of every child continually seeks to ensure that all students irrespective of faith, ethnicity or social background are provided with every opportunity to become religiously literate young people. In this way the RE curriculum directly supports the school’s aim of developing excellence in each child.

Students in today’s world are faced with challenging ethical and moral choices. The RE curriculum aims to enable students to reflect spiritually and think theologically to become religiously literate young people who are able and confident to make a difference in the world. Additionally it provides students with opportunities to develop evaluative, analytical and oracy skills.
