Wider Learning Year 9
Year 9 pupils have started a rotation of Wider Learning encompassing digital literacy, financial literacy and cultural literacy. The pupils with me over this rotation have been learning about Maori culture from New Zealand. They’ve learned about Ta Moko (facial tattoos) and designed their own, learned and performed the
Ka Mate haka (usually done by the All Black team before a rugby match), and made poi. I have really enjoyed their enthusiasm and enquiries deeper into the culture.
