WE Day 2019

On the 6th March 2019, fourteen very lucky students received a free ticket to WE Day, in the SSE Arena. The day kicked off early in the morning at school. We were all excitedly talking about the famous faces that we were going to see perform, and the life changing stories we were going to hear. We left The Douay Martyrs and travelled by the tube to Wembley.

Wembley, on arrival was packed with young innovators, over twenty thousand of them! The stadium itself was alive with noise! During the event, we heard life changing speeches about knife crime, disability, poverty, body shaming, mental health etc. We also heard very touching stories delivered by young people about what they are doing to help fight the cause they are passionate about. During the course of the show, many famous faces appeared to talk and perform to us. These included Pixie Lott, Naomi Campbell, Liam Payne, Nicole Scherzinger, Tom Walker, Jack & Jack and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. All of these people made this event an unforgettable

experience that inspired every person in the stand as we celebrated what we had made possible over the last year. The event made clear that it doesn’t matter how young you are, you are always capable of changing the world.

We left the stadium ready to begin the next big year of change; ready to do what is necessary to make the world that small bit better.
